Who is the man known as The Sterling Compass? Garrett Swann is not only a talented model and successful influencer, but is also a GQ insider and CEO of @yourpal.io. Garrett loves a good conversation over coffee and finds joy in inspiring the next generation with his personal style and poise. Garrett is represented globally for modeling and has traveled the world doing campaigns for IBM, T-Mobile, Amazon/Oprah Magazine, Brooks Brothers, Michael Kors, Belk, Billionaire (Phillipe Plein), Phonak, Dodge, Chrysler, Loews Hotels, SLH Hotels, Indochino, 2xist Underwear, Mr. Turk, Moscot, and many more! Garrett has made the “Silver fox” lists for Buzzfeed, Huffpost, and OUT magazine. Garrett shared some keys that he believes have led to his success as an influencer.
"I believe the key to my success in modeling is perseverance. In a millennial driven world on social media, what makes me stand out is my experience of the past that has led me to a fantastic lifestyle and the process of getting there. Success can happen overnight with a viral video or content, but time and persistence to share an authentic message is important to me."
With the life motto "Have swimsuit, will travel" Garrett has done just that and has evolved into The Sterling Compass: "Circumventing the world, giving positive lifestyle direction to those across the globe." Living in a time when the term "influencer" is a buzzword to say the least, Garrett has some advice for aspiring influencers.
"We are in a world where EVERYONE wants to be an influencer. The thing is, find something that makes you unique and stand out. What’s your aesthetic? What’s your REAL story? What’s the gravitas to your story and deliver content that is true to your taste, style and heart."
Garrett has starred in TV shows such as Fashion House, Unusually Thicke, as well as indie films. He has also recently started his own show that airs on IGTV called Undercovers, interviewing guests such as the GQ Senior Director of Luxury & Influencers, Actor/Writer/Director Colman Domingo, and TV producer Marni Ellis. Garrett filled us in as to how Undercovers got its start.
